Self-Sustaining
Vision of Self-Sustainment
It is our goal to reach a point of self-reliance in the near future. We are living for the best but preparing for the worst. Many people realize that our current economic situation seems very unstable and it is our desire to not have our total dependence on the economy itself. But rather on the things we can grow and produce for ourselves as a community unit.We can see many skilled individuals joining together to become very productive and self-reliant in the situation provided at the Prairie Creek Settlement. As people who are like-minded, that grasp the vision, come together and team up with one another, there will be no stopping what we know will tear down our current dependence on external corporations and institutions. We have all of the elements at our fingertips just waiting to be tapped right here in our location; water, foliage, timber, topsoil, stocked lakes & wildlife, all in a convenient yet remote location. We are sort of hidden in plain sight. There is much more to discover for those interested in achieving this same goal.Contact us if you feel compelled to be part of the vision set forth above. We would love to hear from you.

Religious Aspect
We often get many questions regarding our religious views. Are we religious? Are we a cult?Am I going to be forced to believe what someone else believes? The quick answer to all of the above is NO. However, we ourselves do conduct ourselves by the standards as laid out in the written Scriptures (or the Bible). We believe the church today as it is commonly recognized by the world is not operating the way our Creator intended or even instructed in His Word.We believe that if a person is truly walking the way he should walk that converting people and preaching at them is not necessary nor is it commanded for us to do so.What we have been called to do is to conduct ourselves properly and walk the way we ought to walk then when people recognize and see something in us worth asking about they will inquire of us. It is then we would be free to share in response to the inquiry. If we are not walking upright and producing good fruit then what right would we have to impose our morals or try to instruct others on how to live if our own lives are not producing desirable results? What we do here is treat all with respect and we expect to be treated the same in return. We were commanded to love our Creator with all our heart the way He instructed and to love one another as we love ourselves, again the way He instructed. That, my friend, is our number one goal here.As we walk this journey through life we are all going to trip and fall and the last thing we need is another imperfect person beating us down and turning their back on us because we are struggling in this fallen world. What we really should be doing is coming together and lifting one another up and building that person in love. Destructive attitudes are just that, destructive! What we are looking for is real people who understand that we all stumble and that we are all in need of help and support from one another to make it together. We are not here to condemn, gossip about or destroy each other and this conduct will not be tolerated in the community. We are not out to convince anyone of anything but to love one another and live in harmony. We are not religious we focus on relationship. So what do we call ourselves? We struggled with this for a very long time and perhaps we really do not know for certain but as best as we can describe, I guess we would call ourselves Hebrews, which means to cross over, like Abraham. Abraham was the first Hebrew as the Scriptures record. He lived by faith and followed our Heavenly Father, keeping His instructions and being as obedient as he could. He was not perfect but he tried. That is all we are trying to do. If that is something you are interested in we would love to share with you. If it's not your cup of tea, we would be pleased to dwell with you so long as you respect this aspect about us and we will always be courteous and treat you with the respect you deserve. So how do we function? We do keep the Sabbath, the 7th day, as we understand it. That would be Saturday on your Gregorian calendar. This means you are guaranteed a day of complete rest. The only work we do on the Sabbath is that of caring for the animals and of course responding to any emergencies. Otherwise it is a great day to catch up on that sleep that was lacking through the week or time to reflect and spend with the family. We hold Bible studies where all are invited to read and share, as you feel led in order and with respect towards one another. It is not a time to argue or heavily debate. Though we understand some people can get pretty passionate about their interpretation. It is a time to grow and learn together as a group if one so desires. We share in community meals. While this is not really a matter of religious practice we find it is rather bonding and a great way to conserve resources and time by sharing meals together. Those with dietary restrictions are always considered and meal prep can be suited to meet the needs of everyone. We do not eat the things that the Scriptures describe as "not for use". So we do not serve: Bat, Dog, Pig, Vulture, Skunk, Bear, Catfish, Poison Ivy, Oleander, Toad or Possum here.We are free to eat anything that the Scripture tells us was created to be accepted. These would include:Cow, Deer, Elk, Tilapia, Cod, Bass, Trout, Goat, Lamb, Duck, Chicken, Turkey, Spinach, Tomatoes, Zucchini and Watermelon to name a few.We do not participate in any pagan holidays and do observe the biblical holy days to the best of our ability. We are all still learning and all are encouraged to join in on the fun and celebration.Again we are not linked to any denomination nor are we part of any groups. We realize we are not the only ones in the world "who are saved" (as some might phrase it) and that there are many out there on the same path that we are on. We are simply concerned in doing what we personally are called to do and our first priority is to clean up our own act and not be so concerned about everyone else. Since it will take us a lifetime to accomplish that then no one should fear force or coercion into something they have no desire to do.Being Polite and Respectful is however mandatory.
